They work across a varied portfolio of commercial, residential, education, public sector, remedial, and infrastructure projects, providing independent cost and commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
With continued growth in their Auckland operation, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working directly with clients and wants the opportunity to take ownership of projects while contributing to the continued development of the wider QS team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role across a diverse range of projects, providing commercial and cost management expertise from early feasibility through procurement and construction.
You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams, providing practical advice around cost, procurement, contracts, risk, and project performance.
The role would suit someone who is confident operating independently, enjoys client-facing work, and is looking to build on their technical capability while taking on greater responsibility within a collaborative consultancy environment.
Lead quantity surveying and cost management assignments from initial feasibility through to project completion
Prepare and review feasibility studies, elemental cost plans, budgets, estimates, and financial forecasts
Provide commercial advice to clients throughout the design and construction process
Develop procurement strategies and manage tender processes, including analysis and recommendations
Review contract documentation and provide advice on commercial and contractual matters
Administer construction contracts, including payment claims, variations, extensions of time, and final accounts
Monitor project expenditure and identify emerging cost, programme, and commercial risks
Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and other consultants
Prepare clear and commercially focused reports for clients and project stakeholders
Attend project and client meetings and act as a trusted commercial adviser
Contribute to maintaining and developing long-term client relationships
Support and mentor junior and intermediate members of the QS team
Assist with proposals, fee preparation, and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships
Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline
Strong experience within a New Zealand quantity surveying consultancy or similar professional environment
Demonstrated experience managing projects through pre-construction, procurement, and delivery stages
Strong understanding of construction costs, procurement methods, and contract administration
Commercially astute with the ability to identify and communicate cost and project risks
Confident dealing directly with clients and senior project stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with a high level of autonomy
Strong attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach
NZIQS, RICS, or equivalent professional membership would be advantageous
Experience across commercial, public sector, education, residential, remediation, or infrastructure projects would be beneficial
